Development Department
DONOR RELATIONS INTERN
Position Summary:
The Dragonfly Home (Dragonfly) Donor Relations Intern (DRI) will work with the Director of Communications & Development and Donor Relations Coordinator. The DRI will be responsible for supporting efforts to develop funding and maintain excellent relationships with donors for Dragonfly. The DRI must have the ability to work independently and follow directions. The ideal candidate has exceptional writing, grammar, and spelling skills, as well as strong attention to detail and excellent penmanship.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Support the Director of Communications and Development and Donor Relations Coordinator in maintaining relationships with donors.
Handwrite thank you notes to donors following a provided template
Help with social media for annual fundraising gala logistics
Provide administrative support as specified by Director of Communications & Development and/or Donor Relations Coordinator
Adhere to agency policies and work rules including confidentiality and code of ethics
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions as required by Director of Communications & Development
Skills, Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Entering Sophomore year of college or higher
Exceptional writing, grammar, and spelling skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent penmanship
Critical thinking, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution skills
Able to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Adaptable to a hybrid work environment, working some days on site and some days remotely
Understands that communicating about human trafficking is sensitive and follows the highest safety and confidentiality standards
Willing to accept constructive criticism and adapt content to Dragonfly’s branding and to reflect Dragonfly’s core program values
Understands the importance of complying with state and federal standards, guidelines, and statutes
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from internship
Candidates must consent to and pass a background check, interview, and screening

FUNDRAISING RESEARCH INTERN
Position Summary:
The Dragonfly Home (Dragonfly) Fundraising Research Intern (FRI) will work with the Director of Communications & Development and Fundraising Coordinator. The FRI will be responsible for supporting efforts to research new revenue streams for Dragonfly. The FRI must have the ability to work independently and follow directions. The ideal candidate has exceptional research and notetaking skills, as well as strong attention to detail. Must be comfortable spending a lot of time reading and thinking critically.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Support the Director of Communications and Development and Donor Relations Coordinator in maintaining relationships with donors.
Research information provided on a database and help determine if a donor is an appropriate potential match for Dragonfly’s mission.
Help with planning and tasks for annual fundraising gala logistics
Provide administrative support as specified by Director of Communications & Development and/or Donor Relations Coordinator

- Maintaining files
- Helping build and maintain organizational systems
- Assisting with development and fundraising
- Research
- Assisting with event planning
Duties may vary depending on each person’s qualification, background, and interests.
Preferred areas of study: Business, Organizational Communications, Non-profit Management
Communications Department – All Positions Currently Filled
Intern duties include, for example:
- Assisting with Communications Department administration
- Developing and scheduling social media posts
- Assisting with creation of newsletters and other email communication
- Creating multimedia projects
Duties may vary depending on each person’s qualification, background, and interests.
Preferred areas of study: Graphic design, Media production, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications
Direct Care Department – All Positions Currently Filled
IMPORTANT: Internships for this department should be applied for several months in advance to allow time for extensive training and screening process.
Intern opportunities include:
- Service coordination
- Case management assistance
- Victim advocacy
Duties may vary depending on each person’s qualification, background, and interests.
Preferred areas of study: Social Work, Mental Health, Case Management
Requirements for Every Department:
1. Each department requires that interns participate in and complete the following:
- Advocate Training (40+ hours) (facilitated by The Dragonfly Home on a quarterly basis)
- Additional, department-specific training
- Interview with and approval from respective Director
- Background check (required for most positions)
- A minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours, unless you have prior arrangements with supervision.
