This summer I had the amazing experience of working at a summer camp where I got to hang out with 12-14-year-old girls every single day. This was a beautiful way to spend my summer, but with my experience with the Dragonfly Home and other anti-human trafficking organizations, I couldn’t help but be incredibly shaken by the fact that there are girls just like my campers being sold into sex and labor slavery. I hadn’t spent real time around teens since I was one (I am 21 now) and while that doesn’t seem like too long of a difference, I realized just how beautiful and innocent youth can be. And I also saw the reality of what it looks like for a child to grow up too fast. My passion for fighting human trafficking has intensified much more since this summer and I hope and pray that we as a nation, as a city, and as God’s people would have our hearts broken more for the injustice that is going on with our fellow human beings. Our youth, our women, our men–they all deserve much more. They deserve justice. But, until Christ returns, the best we can do is fight for those in chains and help support those who are protecting, helping heal, and rescuing on the front lines. So please consider donating to the Dragonfly Home–they are making a difference in a real and tangible way for human trafficking victims in Oklahoma.
