I can’t believe it will be 5 years ago this December a friend & I started the Drive for Dragonfly. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I’ve been a junior in college. The Drive for Dragonfly is a month long movement, in December, that raises awareness over the issue of human trafficking and raises funds for the Dragonfly Home (Oklahoma’s first and only crisis center for survivors of human trafficking). So many people over the last 5 years have simply taken the time to post of picture to their social media for 31 days, educate others over the issue of human trafficking and how it looks in our context of Oklahoma, and shared their fundraising link. & those 3 steps have led to $54,800 being raised to help real people if have been impacted by this crime. This year let’s add to that number, add to that impact, and really meet the needs of those impacted by this injustice.
In the wise words of Katie Davis Majors, one of my heroes, "People who really want to make a difference in the world usually do it, in one way or another: They hold the unshakable conviction that individuals are extremely important, that every life matters. They get excited over one smile. They are willing to feed one stomach, educate one mind, and treat one wound. They aren't determined to revolutionize the world all at once; they're satisfied with small changes. Over time, though, the small changes add up. Sometimes they even transform cities, nations, and yes, the world."
